Before we start an active ZoogVPN subscription is required and your device must be connected to the Internet.
We highly recommend using our dedicated Windows app instead of a manual setup. It takes a few seconds to install and it is more secure as we have some additional features in our apps including DNS leak protection, IP leak protection, and more!
Сhoose the preferred VPN protocol:
Step 1 – Download OpenVPN App
Download official OpenVPN app.
Step 2 – Run OpenVPN Installation
Run the setup with administrator privileges and follow the installation steps. Confirm the Windows security messages.
Step 3 – Installation Process
Download OpenVPN Configuration Files according to your VPN Plan and unzip it. Copy all files to the OpenVPN configuration folder (by default C:/Program Files/OpenVPN/config/) and confirm the Windows security messages.
If you require a particular location only, you can select the server you need from the server list here. After that simply download a specific OpenVPN configuration file with UDP or TCP protocol.
NB: To store your login information permanently, you have to edit the file userpass.txt and enter your ZoogVPN login information there.
Step 4 – Run as Administrator
Click right on the OpenVPN desktop icon, click on ‘Settings’ and go to the tab ‘Compatibility’. Check ‘Run the program as an administrator’.
Step 5 – Run OpenVPN App
Start OpenVPN with administrator privileges and click with right on the OpenVPN tray icon, select your favorite location and click on ‘Connect’.
NB: Choose a VPN location from the list preferably nearest to your location.
Step 6 – Connection Successful
Once the connection has been successfully established, the OpenVPN icon turns green. You can manage your VPN connection with OpenVPN. The connection will change your public IP to the VPN server’s IP.
Step 7 – Surf the Web your way!
Hoorah! You are now connected to ZoogVPN via OpenVPN app.

Step 1 – Search ‘VPN’
Click ‘Start’ and type ‘VPN’ into the search field. Click on ‘Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection’.
Step 2 – Create a VPN Connection
Enter the ‘Server Address’ into the ‘Internet Address’ field of your chosen server. You can find all available server addresses in your account here. For example server address can look like this: nl.free.zoogvpn.com
Type ‘Zoog VPN’ into the ‘Destination name’ field. Check the box ‘Don’t connect now; just set up so I can connect later’ and click ‘Next’ to continue.
Step 3 – Login Details
Enter your Zoog VPN account credentials. Your username is basically the email address of your ZoogVPN account. Your password is the password you used when creating your ZoogVPN account.
Check ‘Remember this password’ for the computer to remember your login details. Click ‘Create’ to continue.
Step 4 – Exit Set Up
Your connection is nearly ready to use. Click on ‘Close’ for now to continue with settings.
Step 5 – Search ‘Network’
Click ‘Start’ and type ‘network’ into the search field. Click on ‘Network and Sharing Center’.
Step 6 – VPN Properties
Click on ‘Connect to a network’ followed by right-click on ‘Zoog VPN’ and click on ‘Properties’.
Step 7 – Properties – ‘Security’
Select the ‘Security’ tab to proceed. Under ‘Type of VPN’ select ‘Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)’, under ‘Data encryption’ select ‘No encryption allowed…’ and under ‘Allow these protocols’ make sure only the ‘Unencrypted password (PAP)’ box is checked.
Step 8 – Properties – ‘Networking’
Select the ‘Networking’ tab to proceed. Ensure that only the ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ and ‘Client for Microsoft Networks’ checkbox is checked. Click ‘OK’ to continue.
Step 9 – Click ‘Connect’
Click on ‘Connect to a network’ followed by clicking on ‘Connect’ to connect to Zoog VPN.
Hooray! You are now connected to Zoog VPN.
Check that the flag next to your username has now turned to your desired server country flag. You may need to press the ‘Refresh’ button for it to appear.
To disconnect from Zoog VPN click on ‘Disconnect’.
